Gerald S. Yeaton Sr.-84, of Hudson, MA, died Saturday, November 25, 2006, at U-Mass Health System, Marlborough Hospital in Marlborough.

He was the husband of the late, Jeanne (Barney) Yeaton who died in 1994.

Born in Framingham, MA, he was the son of the late Albert and Jessie (Bassett) Yeaton.

He was a graduate of Framingham H.S., class of 1939 and was employed by the Commonwealth Gas Co. of Framingham as a sales supervisor in their Marlborough Annex until his retirement.

He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a First Lt. He was a C-47 pilot during the European Campaign. He participated in the Normandy Invasion transporting paratroopers over enemy lines. Fluent in the French language he often served as an interpreter for his commanding officers while stationed in France.

He was a member and past treasurer of the First Federated Church in Hudson. He was a life member of the Hudson Lodge of Elks, a member of the American Legion Post 100 in Marlborough and past President of the Hudson Four Ball Golf League.

He is survived by his daughter; Andrea Cronin of Hudson, MA, his two sons; Gerald Yeaton Jr. and his wife Susan of Marlborough, MA, Robert Yeaton and his wife Carol of Rutland, MA, his two sisters; Valerie Kazmar of South Dakota, Dorothy Westbrook of Vancouver, WA, one brother; Brad Yeaton of Carlisle, MA, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Kenneth Yeaton who died in 1996 and brother of the late Robert and Brad Yeaton.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the First Federated Church, 200 Central Street, Hudson, MA. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 28, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. (www.tighehamilton.com) 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson, MA.
The Hudson Elks will be conducting their ritual at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
