Gertrude M. (Lynch) Cerniglia, 87, of Jaffrey, NH, formerly of Hudson, died on Thursday, Nov. 7th at the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Jaffrey, NH. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Joseph S. Cerniglia who died in 1994.
Gertrude was born and raised in Somerville, daughter of the late John and Eleanor (Hickey) Lynch. She attended local schools and was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School in Watertown. Gertrude worked as a telephone switchboard operator for many years for the former Metropolitan State Hospital in Waverly and later for Waltham Hospital until her retirement.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Snow of Schaghticoke, NY and her sister, Patricia Driscoll of Jaffrey, NH. She is also survived by her grandchildren; stepchildren and nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Frances Billups.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Nov. 12th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Stow. Family and friends may attend a calling hour from 8:00 to 8:45 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (www.tighehamilton.com) prior to the mass.
