Gloria B. (D'Amico) Pizzi
HUDSON - Gloria Beverly (D'Amico) Pizzi, 80, a longtime resident of Hudson, died peacefully in her sleep at St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham on Thursday, January 6, 2011, after a short illness.
The youngest of four children, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Miller) D'Amico, and the sister of the late Frank D'Amico and the late Peter D'Amico.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband of more than 58 years, Albert P. Pizzi, of Hudson , her son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Anne Marie (McKenna) Pizzi, and grandchildren, Brian and Michael Pizzi, all of Marlborough. She is also survived by her brother, Leonard D'Amico, of Brockton, and several nieces and nephews.
Born in Boston on November 7, 1930, she lived for a time in Ansonia, CT, before moving to Dorchester, and eventually to Hudson in 1963. She held a variety of jobs during her life, but stopped working outside the home when her son was born. After her son started school, Gloria went back to work for the Digital Equipment Corp. in Maynard, from where she retired after 17 years of service.
Gloria lived for her family and was happiest when surrounded by relatives. While healthy for the better part of her long life, she faced recent illnesses with spirit, courage and determination. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, Jan. 9th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Committal services will be held at a later date.
