Guilhermina C. (Correia) Ponte

Hudson, MA

Guilhermina C. (Correia) Ponte, 93, longtime resident of Hudson, MA, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, June 4, 2022. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Manuel C. Ponte in 2009.

Guilhermina was born in Sao Miguel, Azores of Portugal, daughter of the late Arsenio and Eremilnda (Melo) Correia. She attended local schools there and later she began a career as a seamstress/tailor on the island. She emigrated to the United States in 1975 along with her husband and family members and settled in Hudson. She worked for the Hudson Lock Co. for many years until retiring at age 65. She was a member of the Hudson Senior Center and Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson.

She is survived by her 3 sons, Jorge C. Ponte and his wife Ana of Hudson, MA, Jose C. Ponte and his wife Lucia of Clinton, MA and Manuel C. Ponte and his wife Berta of Hudson, MA. She is also survived by her siblings, Luisa (Correia) Braga of Hudson, MA, Jose Correia of Hudson, MA, Francelina Medeiros of Sao Miguel, Azores, Teresa Mauricio of Hudson, MA; her 9 grandchildren, Jenny, Sara, Amanda, Melissa, Kelly, Nicholas, Sandra, Jeffrey, Derek; her 14 great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her siblings, Maria Lurdes Martins and Violante Silva.

Guilhermina cherished her family, especially later with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always looked forward to the holidays and family events creating some of the many dishes she loved preparing for all to share. She enjoyed her talents as a tailor and seamstress often tailoring garments for family and friends. Guilhermina and her husband Manuel always looked forward to trips back to Sao Miguel visiting family and friends. Memories of a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend will be cherished by all who loved and knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 9:00 AM in St. Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson, MA. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Cox Street, Hudson.
