Bolton, MA
Harold E. Babcock, of Bolton, died on Feb. 19th. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Whitcomb) Babcock who died in 1982.
Born in Clinton, he was the son of the late Leslie and Charlotte (Pardee) Babcock, and was a life-long resident of Bolton. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Hudson High School. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army, 114th Signal Service Co. Harold was employed as a truck operator for the former G. Bonazzoli and Son Construction Co. and then Lloyd's Woodworking Co. Inc. both of Hudson until retiring. He was a lifelong member of the Hudson V.F.W.
Harold's devotion to his community included 50 years as a volunteer with the Bolton Fire Department and Volunteer Ambulance Service. He was a member of the Cemetery Committee, a former Boy Scout Leader, former member of the American Legion. He was a member of the First Parish Church of Bolton,
He is survived by his two daughters, Karen Toffling, wife of the late James Toffling of Hubbardston and Brenda Baum and her husband Donald of Bolton. He is also survived by his brother, Roger Babcock of Winter Haven, FLA.; his four grandchildren, Bradford Cote and his wife Heather of Bolton, Brian Cote and his wife Jennifer of Templeton, Aaron Baum of Cornville, Maine, and Sarah Baum of Belmont; three great granddaughters; three nephews and one niece. He was predeceased by his sister, Doris Dubois, who died in 2006.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 27th, at the First Parish Church, 673 Main Street, (RT. 117), Bolton. Committal services were held at the convenience of the family in South Cemetery, Bolton. There are no calling hours.
