Helen M. O'Keefe, 99, of Hudson, died on Saturday, Nov. 19th at Saint Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Worcester. She was the beloved wife of 53 years to the late Joseph O'Keefe who died in 1997.
Helen was born in Boston, daughter of the late John Buckley and Jenny Nugent. She attended the Saint Elizabeth School of Nursing in Boston receiving her Degree in Nursing in 1935 and also attended Boston College. She was a veteran of WWII, serving as a member of the U.S. Navy Nursing Corps until being honorably discharged in 1944. She was employed as a nurse for many years which included Director of Nursing at the Katherine Barton Nursing Home in Wayland and was also employed on the nursing staff of Wellesley College. Helen and her husband Joseph resided in Natick for most of their married life and also spent time residing in Cotuit and Chatham on the Cape. She has resided in Hudson since 1992. Helen was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
She is survived by her two sons, Paul O'Keefe and his wife Marcia of Hudson and Kenneth O'Keefe and his wife Cara of Cape Coral, FL. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Kathleen Kenny and her husband Joseph of Westboro, Patricia Pelletier and her partner Bryan Poisson of Milton, NH, Mary Clausen and her husband Bill of Westboro, Michael O'Keefe and his wife Amber of Morristown, TN, Robert O'Keefe of Atlanta, GA and her six great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Nov. 22nd at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 22nd from 8:00 to 8:45 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Helen may be made to: American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
