Helen Rose (Cellucci) Rossi, 85, a life long resident of Hudson, died peacefully with her loving family at her side on Wednesday, March 17th at the Concord Park Assisted Living in Concord. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest R. Rossi for 44 years who died in 1990.
Helen was born in Hudson, daughter of the late Argeo L. and Rose (Govoni) Cellucci and was a graduate of Hudson High School, class of 1942. She received her Associates Degree from Bentley College, located in Boston in 1944, one of the first female graduates of the college. She spent most of her adult life raising her family and also assisted her family with the bookkeeping for Washington Street Motors in Hudson. She was a member of the Hudson Women's Club, Catholic Daughters of America, a former troop leader with the Hudson Girl Scouts and member of the Marlboro Duplicate Bridge Club. Helen was well known by her high school classmates as a class officer and the many years she devoted to their class reunion committee, organizing and coordinating their event every five years. She was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
She is survived by her two daughters, Ruth Lyddy of Arlington, Jean Butler and her husband Timothy of Westford; her brother, Richard J. Cellucci and his wife Mary of Stow; her sister, Rosemarie Cellucci of Marblehead and her sister in law, Priscilla Cellucci, wife of the late Argeo R. "Junior" Cellucci of Hudson. She is also survived by her sister in law, Arlene (Rossi) Johnson of New Jersey; her step-mother, Gertrude Cellucci of Hudson; her five grandchildren, Christopher Lyddy and his wife Sagree of Ohio, Caroline Lyddy and her partner Michael Lees of Oregon, Hazel Sebens and her husband Jacob of Ohio, Grace Butler and her fiancAC. Benjamin Schneider of Virginia, Owen Butler of Westford and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday March 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 19th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the: Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
