Helena (Chaves) Carvalho, 87, of Hudson, died on Saturday, June 25th surrounded by her loving family at Marlboro Hospital. She was the wife of 29 years to the late Agostinho A. Sousa who died in 1984.
Helena was born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores, Portugal, daughter of the late Jose C. and Antonia (Tavares) Chaves. She moved to Hudson in 1990 and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
She is survived by her three children, Lurdes Carvalho and her husband Antonio of Hudson, Jose Sousa and his wife Maria of Canada, Natalia Carvalho and her husband David of Hudson; her two sisters, Maria Cabral of Canada, Conceicao Cabral of Portugal and her 8 grandchildren, Nelson, Danny, Kevin, Michelle, Lesley, Vanessa, Ashley and Cassandra.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 30th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 29th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749
