Herman H. Dumas

September 19, 1941 — October 20, 2017

Herman H. Dumas, Jr., 76 of West Yarmouth, formerly of Hudson, Marlborough and Paxton, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2017, at Cape Cod Hospital with his loving family by his side after a period of declining health. He leaves behind his beloved wife of fifty-five years, Mary M. (Sandini) Dumas.

Herman was born and raised in Hudson, MA a son of the late Herman H. and Celia (Dufault) Dumas; growing up he was known as the “Coca-Cola kid”. After graduating high school in Hudson, he went on to marry the love of his life on January 20, 1962, and together they settled in Marlborough; later they moved to Paxton and eventually to West Yarmouth, where he was residing when he passed away. Herman earned his Bachelor’s degree from Clark University in 1978 and later a Master’s Degree from Anna Maria College. He worked as a technician for several companies throughout the years, but most notably for Worcester Polytechnic Institute for several years and Eastman Kodak for sixteen years; where he worked on many projects including, highspeed photography and helping wire the U.S. Open with the “McEnroe Foul Line”. Herman also ran his own businesses installing home security and Bose Home entertainment systems.

Herman was not a man of many words, but he loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed working on his computers, tinkering with electronics and traveling with his wife.

In addition to his wife, Mary M. (Sandini) Dumas, Herman is also survived by his daughter Yvette M. Orell of Paxton; his brother, Gilbert Dumas; his sister, Elaine Cashman; and his grandson, Brian Wilson. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Philip Dumas and his sister Margaret Roche.

Calling hours will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, Ma; followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be private at a later date.
