Hilda E. (Mills) Ordway, 92, of Hudson, died on Sunday, April 19th with her loving family by her side at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Northboro. She was the beloved wife of 55 years to the late James W. Ordway Sr. who died in 2001.
Hilda was born in Leominster, daughter of the late Roy J. and Emily M. (Looms) Mills. She was raised in Berlin where she attended local schools and was a 1940 graduate of Clinton High School. Following her marriage to James, Hilda and James resided in Hudson for many years where they took great pride in raising their family and caring for their home. She was employed as a weaver by the former Thomas Taylor and Sons Company of Hudson for over 30 years. Hilda will always be cherished and remembered, especially for her simple approach to life and the love she shared.
She is survived by her three children, Judith Beauchaine and her husband William of Berlin, James W. Ordway Jr. and his wife Jean of Framingham and Howard R. Ordway and his companion, Teddy Sawtelle of Pepperell. She is also survived by her sister, Mary E. Henderson of North Carolina; her 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Gertrude Laughlan and was predeceased by her great granddaughter Danielle Lynette Beauchaine.
A service to celebrate Hilda's life will be held on Wednesday April 22nd at 12:00 noon in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. A calling hour will be held from 11:00 a.m. to noon prior to the service in the funeral home. Burial services will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson.
