Horacio S. Tavares, 79, of Hudson, died on Tuesday, March 11th at Marlboro Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to the late Maria F. (Fonseca) Tavares who died in Sept. of 2013.
Horacio was born and raised in Saint Michael, the Azores of Portugal. He has resided in Hudson the past 32 years after emigrating from Portugal. He was employed as an assembler for many years by A.C.T. Manufacturing Co. in Hudson until his retirement. Horacio enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, especially hearts and liked playing Dominos. He was an avid soccer fan. He was a member of the Hudson Portuguese Club and member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
He is survived by his two daughters, Filomena Jesus and her husband Joao of Hudson and Luisa Serpa and her husband Emanuel of Portugal. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Brian Jesus of Hudson, Vando Serpa of Portugal and Felipe Serpa of Portugal. He was the brother of the late Raul Tavares of Portugal.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 15th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours on Friday, March 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
