Howard R. Delinsky, 76, of Clinton and former longtime resident of Hudson, died on Wednesday, Aug. 24th surrounded by his loving family at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester.
Howard was the loving husband of 56 years to the love of his life Helen G. (Collins) Delinsky who recently passed in March of this year.
Howard was born and raised in Hartford, CT, son of the late Martin and Mae (Cohen) Delinsky. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Buckley High School in Hartford. He was an outstanding athlete in high school as a member of the football team and was scouted by the Boston Red Sox as a high school baseball player. He was a longtime resident of Hudson prior to moving to Clinton and was employed as a foreman for the Hudson Combing Co. for 40 years until his retirement. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army until being honorably discharged. In the 1970's Howard was a tireless volunteer and coach within the Hudson Girl's Baseball League mentoring his daughters and many other young girls in the sport. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed all football events.
Howard's interests throughout his life always included his family. He was always present to support them in all their activities including his children's sporting events and later his grandchildren's sporting events. He cherished the memories of spending vacations on Cape Cod with his wife and family along with many friends throughout the years. His unique personality, kind and giving spirit and ability to meet and make new friends wherever his travels took him will be remembered by all who loved and fondly referred to him as "MAMPY".
He is survived by his two daughters, Beth A. Delinsky of Clinton and Laurie M. McGuire and her husband James of Clinton. He also leaves his two loving grandchildren, James R. McGuire and his wife Kimberly of Chaddsford, PA, Cassandra A. McGuire of Clinton; his brother, Steven Delinsky and his wife Barbara of Needham; his sister, Harriet Globeman of Florida along with many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may attend calling hours on Saturday, Aug. 27th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc., 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (www.tighehamilton.com). A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27th at the funeral home. Burial services will be held privately at a later date.
