Ines D. Chaves, 88, of Hudson, died Friday, Feb. 1st at Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her two sisters, Maria Lurdes Tavares of Canada, Filomena Braga of Hudson; her two brothers, Antonio Almada Chaves and Jose Ernesto Chaves, both of Hudson and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Maria Almada Chaves, Elvira Almada Chaves, Ermulinda Almada Chaves, Helena Almada and Jose Chaves.
Ines was born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores of Portugal, daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Chaves. She was employed as a stitcher by the former Diamond Shoe Co. in Marlboro for many years and later was employed by the Donnely Printing Co. in Hudson. She was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson where she served as a Communicant and spent many years as a CCD Instructor.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 4th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours on Sunday, Feb. 3rd from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
