James C. "Gumper" Barry

James “Jim” Christopher Barry, 56, of Berlin, formerly of Hudson, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 9, 2021.

Jim loved hockey.  Throughout his years, he played in net for several men’s leagues and took great pride in stoning his opponents.  Jim also enjoyed teaching and watching his children play the game.  Jim earned his nickname “Gumper” after the NY Rangers goalie “Gump Worsley” however, he remained a Bruins fan until the end.  Jim was also an avid guitar player and fisherman.  Jim loved getting together with family and friends during the holidays and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his mother, Joanne M. (Tamulis) Barry of Hudson, he is also survived by his brother Michael Barry, Jr. and his wife Kim of Leominster, MA; his sister Judy Selby and her husband Shane of Upton, MA; his brother Todd Barry of Roanoke, VA; children Sabrina, Shane, Sasha and Steven Barry; grandchildren; Luana, Romeo, Damian, Asidis and Gracie; nephews Ryan, Dana and Jacob, along with several more aunts, uncles and cousins.  Jim was predeceased by his father, Michael J. Barry, Sr.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours from 5 pm until 7 pm on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA 01749.  A private burial will take place at a later date.   In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to: Boston Bruins Foundation (foundationintern@bostonbruins.com), 100 Legends Way, Boston, MA 02114.
