James “Jimmy” C. Bent, 65 of Hudson, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Marlborough Hospital. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 23 years, Almerinda B. (Monteiro) Bent.
Jimmy was born on February 19, 1953, in Framingham, MA, a son of the late Peter W. and Geraldine M. (Garry) Bent. Jimmy was raised in Framingham, MA and graduated from Framingham North High School. After graduation, Jimmy enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served his nation on board the USS Bristol County LST 1198 during the Vietnam War from 1971 until 1974. Jimmy worked as a Postal Worker for many years before he retired in 2015.
Jimmy was a member of the Postal Workers Union and was an avid music enthusiast. He especially enjoyed the Beatles and the classic rock genre. Jimmy also loved traveling to places such as England, home of the Beatles. He also loved his weekend getaways with Almerinda to Bar Habor, ME and various spots throughout New England. Jimmy was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
In addition to his wife, Jimmy was also survived by his brother Paul G. Bent and his wife Susan “Dee” of Marlborough; his nieces and nephews, Keith Bent, Kristin Knapp, Melissa McIntyre, Vanessa, Jason and Danny Monteiro, Nicole and Grace Breton and also his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jose and Maria Ines Monteiro, Tony Monteiro and his wife Laura, John Monteiro and his wife Adelaide and Jenny Breton and her husband Peter.
Calling hours will be from 4 pm until 7 pm on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St. Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson MA; followed by interment in Saint Michael Cemetery in Hudson.
