James P. Carleton Jr., 64, of Hudson and Moultonborough, New Hampshire, died Tuesday, Nov. 30th at Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rita M. (Cocker) Carleton of Hudson.
He was born in Cambridge, son of the late James P. Carleton Sr. and survived by his mother, Barbara (Bourden) Carleton of Otis. James was raised in Belmont and Marlboro where he attended local schools and was a 1965 graduate of Marlboro High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Navy until being honorably discharged in 1972. He was employed as a production supervisor by Hewlett-Packard in Chelmsford for many years and most recently was employed by the Stop & Shop Supermarket in Hudson. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Hudson.
James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and especially enjoyed the times he spent at his residence in Moultonborough, New Hampshire.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his two daughters, Kim M. Whitney and her husband Donald "Shack" of Hudson and Debra J. McPartlen and her husband Jack of Hudson. He is also survived by his sister, Jennifer Radacsi of Otis; his three grandchildren, Alyssa M. Whitney, Madison J. and John B. McPartlen, all of Hudson and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Laurie Carleton.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 3rd at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2nd from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Friday Dec. 3rd from 8:00 to 8:45 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Carleton may be made to: American Cancer Society, (Local Chapter), 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01749.
