James “Jim” D. Adams died June 4, 2020 at home after a brief but ferocious battle with Multiple Myeloma. He fought his battle with determination, strength and grace. He was a twenty-eight-year resident of Hudson.
Jim was born in Cambridge, MA the third son of George W. Adams, Jr. and Anne T. (MacLellan) Adams and grew up in Woburn, West Concord and Winchester. After graduating from Winchester High School (’81), Jim served in the Navy Reserves then went on to attend North East Industrial School of Technology where he earned his HVAC certification. He spent his career in the field of HVAC, most notably eighteen years at the Harvard Medical School Southborough Campus and most recently at Brandeis University in Waltham.
Jim was a fun-loving gentle giant of a man who wore his passion and commitment for his family proudly. He had a great sense of humor, the biggest heart and was happiest at home with a Bud Light. He was always working on home improvement projects, yardwork and spending time with his family. His children were his light and what made him most proud in his life. You could find him at the field hockey and lacrosse fields, the baseball and football fields. Always celebrating their milestones, soothing their defeats and hardships. He was simply an amazing father who will no doubt continue to guide them.
Jim was a beloved coach of Hudson Youth Football and Cheerleading for many years. He learned something from each one of his players and forged quite a bond with many. As a lifelong student of the game of football and an avid Patriots fan, he would call the penalties before the officials, the plays before they happened and was always fair when giving both praise and criticism to Belichick, Brady and McDaniels.
Jim was predeceased by both of his parents and is survived by his loving and devoted family: wife of twenty eight years, Tracy (Ryon) of Hudson, daughter Ashley of Hudson, son James Jr. and his partner Ashley Maloney currently of Fall River and his newest love, granddaughter Ayra Adams. He leaves behind older brother George Adams (Stacey) of Millbury, MA, older brother Matt Adams (Joann) of Merrimack, NH and younger brother Bill Adams (Lauren) of Boynton Beach, FL; mother in law Terri Ryon of Belmont, NH; brother in law Walter Ryon (Irene) of Lanoka Harbor, NJ and sister in law Shelly (Ryon) Bursey (Mike) of Belmont, NH. He was the very proud uncle of George, David, Nick (Danielle), Jacqueline, Michael, Coley and Danielle and the great uncle to Lilian, Abigail and Elaina. His family will miss him deeply.
The family would like to acknowledge the excellent medical care Jim received at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and would be honored if you would consider a donation in his memory to caringforacure.org. Services for Jim will be coordinated by the family in the near future.
