Jean M. (Renney) Bowen, 80, of Hudson, died on Saturday, November 28th at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Leonard T. "La" Bowen of Hudson.
Jean was born in Marlboro, daughter of the late Charles and Cecile (Miron) Renney and has resided in Hudson since the age of three. She attended Hudson Schools and was a 1947 graduate of Hudson High School. Following high school she was employed at the Hudson Light and Power Dept. for several years and later was employed as a clerk for the former Carpet Classics Co. in Hudson and as a clerk for the former Marlboro Supply Co. in Hudson. She was a member at the former Christ the King Parish in Hudson and spent many years as a member of the Ladies Sodality at the parish and presently a member at Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson. She spent many years as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Hudson Elks. Jean and her husband Leonard always looked forward to spending time with family over the many summers at their residence in Hampton Beach, NH and also enjoyed their times during the winter months in Long Boat Key, FL. Jean will always be remembered by her family as their biggest fan, she enjoyed all their sporting events and was known to let the officials know when they were less than perfect.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her four sons, Leonard Bowen and his wife Susan, Thomas Bowen and his wife Linda, Brian Bowen and his wife Kim and Robert Bowen and his wife Sue, all of Hudson. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Kellie, Katie, Melissa, Laura, Sara, Ryan, Shalyn, Kristen and Robbie and her two cousins, Maryanne Chisholm of Winthrop and Colin Chisolm of Somerville.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Dec. 1st, at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Monday, Nov. 30th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
