Jeanne M. (Houlton) Simpkins, 78, of Hudson, died Friday, June 20 at Saint Vincent's Hospital in Worcester.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years Frederick W. Simpkins of Hudson.
She was born and raised in Newton where she attended local schools. She was a graduate of Newton H.S., class of 1948. She was employed by New England Mutual Ins. CO. of Boston as a secretary for a short time before she began caring for her children. Jeanne and her husband Fred enjoyed traveling together to many destinations throughout the world. She also had a great appreciation of the ocean, vacationing in Maine and Cape Cod with her family. Jeanne loved creative arts, was an avid gardener and had a great love for her pets.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Valerie Simpkins and her companion John Carroll of Natick, Joseph Simpkins and his wife Paula of Taylor, SC, Jennifer Boisse of Marlboro, Helene Mathews of Orange and Julie Simpkins of New York, NY; loving grandmother of Mark, Erin, Justin, Shawn, Caitlin and great grandmother to Makenzie. She is also survived by her 2 sisters, Elizabeth Warnecke of NY, Blanche Forsberg of FL and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 24, at 11:00 a.m. in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held Monday, June 23 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
