J. Howard Pew Black, Senior, 75, of Bolton, MA, formerly of Naples, FL and Marlborough, MA, died on Tuesday, October 10. J. was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mary (Santini) Black.
J. was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Frances Pew Hayes and George B. He had a brief career as an elementary school teacher after graduation, and then transitioned to trust, estate, and financial planning, and eventually retired from Raymond James. He was the Chairman of the Board for the Frances Pew Hayes Family Foundation.
J. had many interests in his life besides the Foundation and all the wonderful charities it supported. Whether by land, sea, or air, he traveled the world and loved spending time with family and close friends over good food and wine. Sundays were spent at the Harvard Sportsmen’s Club followed by dinner with Chris and his family. He had his own woodworking shop and specialized in making furniture for he and Mary as well as family and friends. J.’s sense of humor and stories will be missed. He will always be remembered, and his passing will be felt for years to come.
