Joao Freitas, 54, of Hudson, died on Friday, April 17 at the Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham. He leaves his beloved wife of 32 years, Lucia (Fatima) Freitas of Hudson.
Born in Santa Maria, the Azores, son of the late Antonio Freitas and survived by his mother Helena (Cabral) Freitas of Santa Maria, he has resided in Hudson for the past 31 years. Joao enjoyed watching the Benfica soccer team of Portugal and his frequent fishing trips to Portsmouth, RI. He always looked forward to the family outings, especially barbequing and loved playing his harmonica. His favorite hobbies where collecting watches and pens.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his daughter, Linda Freitas and two sons, Kevin and Stephen Freitas, all of Hudson. He is also survived by his brother Luis Freitas of Hudson; six brothers of Santa Maria and Canada; three sisters of Santa Maria and his two Granddaughters. He was pre-deceased by his son Mario Freitas in 1986 and his brother Jose Guilherme Freitas of Hudson.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 22 at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 21, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749.
