Joao O. Homen Jr., 79, of Hudson died Friday, Aug. 22 at UMASS Memorial Healthcare, Belmont Street, Worcester. He was the beloved husband for 56 years to Elzira C. (Pimental) Homen of Hudson.
He was born in the Acores of Portugal, son of the late Joao O. and Maria D. (Olivera) Homen and resided their until moving to Hudson some 30 years ago. He was employed by Accumet Engineering of Hudson as a machine operator for 18 years until retiring in 1986.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, John Lui Homen of Hudson, Maria D. Lima of Clinton, Carlos O. Oliviera of Hudson, Nelia F. Kinsman of Worcester, Alberto Homen of Florida, Paul Homen of Worcester and Raquel Santana of Worcester. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Maria Avila of Conneticut, Isabell Snow of California; 18 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Aug. 25 at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours on Sunday, Aug. 24 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749
