Joao Soares, 72, of Hudson, died on Friday, Nov. 14 at his residence. He leaves his wife of 48 years, Maria Fatima (Puim) Soares of Hudson.
He was born in Santa Maria, The Azores, son of the late Joao and Laura Soares and was a former employee of Superior Plastics Co. in Putnam, CT. He was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson. Besides his wife, he is survived by his 3 daughters, Maria Sousa and Sonia Almada, both of Hudson; Natercia Melo of Port Ritche, FL; 2 sons, Flavio Soares of Hudson, Joao M. Soares of Santa Maria; 2 sisters, Maria Anna Cabral and Lurdes Freitas, both of Hudson. He is also survived by 18 Grandchildren; 1 Great Grandchild and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Bruno M. Soares in 2007.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Monday, Nov. 17, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749.
