John D. Carven, 69, of Berlin, formerly of North Andover, died on Wednesday, October 22nd surrounded by his loving family at Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center. He leaves his beloved wife of 43 years, Linda G. (Gustafson) Carven of Berlin.
John was born in Boston, son of the late Rupert S. Carven II and Dorothy V. (Durant) Carven. He resided in North Andover for 28 years prior to moving to Berlin where he had lived for the past 3 years. John worked in the Electronics/Computer manufacturing field and acted as the Vice President for several local companies until his retirement in 2008. John always pursued his education and held 3 Master's Degrees. He served in the Massachusetts National Guard and was a longtime member of the Andover Sportsman's Club.
John was a devoted husband and father. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially later with his three loving grandchildren. He was an avid skier, sportsman and in his spare time he enjoyed boating, ocean fishing and reading. He will be truly missed.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Gregory J. Carven and his wife Krista of Maynard, Jonathan A. Carven and his wife Kelly of Pittstown, New Jersey; his brother, Paul Carven of Chelmsford and his three grandchildren, James, Riley and Jackson Carven. He was the brother of the late Rupert S. Carven III and Mary Lou Allen.
Family and friends may attend calling hours on Sunday, October 26th from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service and celebration of John's life at 3:00 p.m. in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
