Hudson, MA
John A. Rocco, 96, of Hudson, died Saturday, Oct. 9th at St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham. He was the husband of the late Jane A. (Mercuri) Rocco who died in 1985.
John was born in Marlboro, son of the late Albert and Pasquilina Rocco and was a long time resident of Hudson. He was a 1932 graduate of Marlboro High School. He worked for many years as a bartender for the former Oxford Restaurant and Holiday Inn, both of Marlboro. He was the former owner and operator of the New Sharon Restaurant in Hudson from 1942 to 1962 and also was a truck operator for the former McCann Ice Cream Co. in Berlin. John most recently was teaching courses in bartending at Assabet Valley Vocational Technical High School. He was a member of the Hudson Lodge of Elks, the former Christ the King Parish in Hudson and member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
He is survived by his son, Albert Rocco and his wife Christine of Framingham and was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Fernandes of Hockessin, Delaware. He is also survived by his sister, Antoinnette Martinho of Naples, Fla.; his five grandchildren, Gina Syzmanski, Mark, Amy and John Fernandes, Samantha Rocco and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Oct. 14th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 13thfrom 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
