John B. Spinney, 94, of Hudson, died Thursday, Nov. 1st at Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center. He was the beloved husband of Lupita (Martinez) Spinney who died in 1989.
John was born in Marlboro, son of the late John E. M. and Amy M. (Glover) Spinney. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1939 until being honorably discharged in 1946. He was employed by the General Electric Co. as an engineer in their research and development dept. for many years until his retirement.
He is survived by his children, Anita Spinney of Carver, MA, Roberta Hart of North Port, FL, Margaret Babcock of Halifax, MA and David Spinney of Leeds, MA. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Jeffrey Babcock of Penn, England. Barbara Deatherage of Halifax, Ma and Teri Hart of Punta Gorda, Fl; four great grandchildren, Kristen McGrath of Kingston, Ma, Rachel and Hannah Dawson of Punta Gorda, Fl and Gregory Babcock of Penn England plus great great grandson, Joshua McGrath, Jr. of Kingston, Ma and many neices and nephews. He was the brother of the late Anna Neice, Ernest Spinney and EveLyn Rogow.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10th at 11:00 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery, Pleasant Street, Marlborough, MA, There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of: Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
