John S. "Tex" Teixeira-86, of Hudson, MA, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at U-Mass Health System, Marlborough Hospital in Marlborough.
He is survived by his wife of Sixty years, Ernestine (Cabral) Teixeira of Hudson.
Born in Hudson, MA, he was the son of the late Antonio S. and Rosa (Pas Dias) Teixeira.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII as a corporal. He received the EAMET Campaign Medal and Bronze Star for his service during the Normandy Invasion as a radio operator. He was a lifetime member of the Hudson V.F.W. and a member of the International Firefighter's Union.
He was a member of the Hudson Portuguese Club and the Hudson Senior Center. He was a Hudson Boy Scout member and leader for 75 years in Troup 2 of Hudson.
He was a Hudson Call Firefighter and later was appointed full time as a Hudson Firefighter in 1950 until his retirement in 1975.
Besides his wife he is survived by his two children, Linda Teixeira and John Teixeira, both of Hudson. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joseph Teixeira of Natick, who died in Aug. of 2006.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, November 17, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michaels Church 21 Manning street Hudson, MA. Calling hours will be held Thursday, November 16, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial will be in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson, MA.
