John W. Temple Jr.-78, of Hudson, MA, died Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, MA.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Claire (Dumas) Temple of Hudson.
Born in Marlborough, MA, he was the son of the late John W. and Olive L. (Drew) Temple.
He was born and raised in Marlborough, MA and was a graduate of Marlborough, H.S. class of 1946. He was a veteran of WWII serving in Korea and Fort Churchill, Canada for the U.S. Army after high school. He received the WWII Victory Medal and Occupational Medal of Korea. He received his bachelors degree in 1954 from Alfred University in Alfred, NY where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Fraternity. After college he moved to Hudson, MA in 1955 and resided their till his death.
He retired from the former Eastern Drug Co.of Dedham, MA where he was the Executive V.P. of sales for 38 years.
He was a member of the Marlborough Country Club for 40 years, a member of the Hudson V.F.W. Post 1027 from 1955 till his death, a member of the Masonic Lodge "United Brethren Lodge A.F. & A.M." of Marlborough for 40 years and was a life member of the Hudson Lodge of Elks 959 for 50 years. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Marlborough.
Besides his wife he is survived by his two daughters, Joanne Temple Fox and her husband Michael of Stow, MA and Jane Carlson and her husband Anthony Danzilio of Worcester, MA. He is also survived by his sister, Phyllis Wilcox of Manchester Center, VT, his four grandchildren, Nathan and Aaron Fox, Kristen and Kellyn Carlson and many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2007 in Forestvale Cemetery, Broad Street, Hudson, MA. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of; Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
