Hudson, MA
John C. Yakalis, 91, a lifelong resident of Hudson, died Saturday, Jan. 1st at Marlboro Hospital. He was the husband of the late Stella (Slauzis) Yakalis for 50 plus years until her death in 2002.
John was born and raised in Hudson, son of the late Charles and Delia Yakalis. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Hudson High School. He attended Northeastern University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering. John was a self employed engineer and currently owned and operated Persona Engineering Co. of Hudson for the past 20 plus years, prior to that he was employed by American Fabricating in Auburn, MA for 15 plus years and LaPointe's Machine & Tool Co. on Tower Street in Hudson for over 30 plus years until the company closed. He was a member of the former Knight's of Columbus in Hudson, a member of the former Christ the King Parish in Hudson and member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
He is survived by his son, Richard J. Yakalis of Hudson and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Colacchio of Marlboro.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 5th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 4th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
