Jose A. Resendes

José Armando Resendes, 70, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2024. He was born on May 4, 1954 in Santa Maria, Açores to José Manuel and Maria de Jesus Resendes. José was predeceased by his wife(Maria de Fatima Resendes) and is survived by his three children (Amy and her husband Leondro, Danny and his wife Alicia, and Michael and his wife Ashley), his six grandchildren(Landan, Braydan, Kenley, Amalia, Jacoby, and Nalita), his sister(Maria Angelina and her husband Antonio), his sister in laws (Maria do Rosario and her husband Antonio, Florinda and her partner Mickey, Ana Bela and her husband DJ, and Debbie and her husband Joe), his twelve nieces and nephews (Zelia, Lidia, Johnny, Tommy, Ashley, Melissa, Samantha, Matthew, Danielle, John John, Hannah, and Austin), twelve great nieces and nephews as well as many cousins. José also had the honor of being named the Padrinho(Godfather) to seven children.

José Armando married Fatima on December 18, 1976, in Santa Maria, Açores. They later migrated to the United States, settling in Hudson, MA, where they began their family and José embarked on a long and successful career with S & F Concrete Inc. before retiring.

José was deeply proud of his Portuguese roots and loved celebrating his culture. He enjoyed attending festivals and throughout his life was actively involved in organizing and participating in traditional Portuguese dances to celebrate Carnival and Páscoa (Easter). As a dedicated member of the Hudson Portuguese Club, he served as both Vice President and President during his time there. José also took great pleasure in hosting gatherings, filling his home with family and friends. He cherished traveling to Canada and back to his home in Santa Maria, spending quality time fishing with friends and family, watching his favorite soccer team play(Porto), and tending to his quintal (garden and yard). Above all, José was a devoted grandfather who adored his grandchildren.

Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, José’s jokes and one-liners always brought laughter to those around him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Though he is no longer with us on earth, it brings comfort to know that he has reunited with his beloved wife, Fatima, in heaven. Together, they watch over us, offering guidance and solace with their eternal presence. While we mourn their loss, we also celebrate the lasting light they continue to shine on our lives from above. José Armando will forever remain cherished in our hearts.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 28th, 2025 from 9:30am to 11:15am at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St, Hudson MA, 01749; Procession will follow to Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect Street, Marlborough, MA for a mass of Christian Burial at 12pm; followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery, 278 Cox Street, Hudson, MA, for Committal Services.
