Jose C. Sousa, 75, of Hudson, died on Thursday, April 9 at Marlboro Hospital. He leaves his beloved wife of 46 years, Maria (Monteiro) Sousa.
Born in Santa Maria, the Azores of Portugal, son of the late Antonio and Maria (Chaves) Sousa, he has resided in Hudson since 1954. He was employed as a foreman for the New England Tape Co. of Hudson for 41 years until retiring in 1997. Besides being a loving husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed vacationing at his beach house in Portsmouth, Rhode Island with family during the summer.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his three sons, Nelson Sousa and his wife Elizabeth, Thomas Sousa and his wife Fatima and Michael Sousa; his daughter, Fatima Sousa Blood and her husband Kenneth, all of Hudson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Corey, Samantha, Matthew, Alexandra, Andrew, Danica and Brady; his brother, Antonio C. Sousa of Hudson; his brothers-in-law, Joao and Jose Monteiro of Hudson; his sisters-in-law, Gloria Chaves Monteiro who resided with Jose and his wife Maria, Inez Monteiro and Maria Jesus Monteiro, all of Hudson and Diolinda Monteiro and Maria Pium of Ontario, Canada and many nieces and nephews. Jose was pre-deceased by his sister Maria Sousa.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 13 at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 12, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749.
