Jose A. Godinho, 69 of Hudson, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his adoring family, on Monday, January 22, 2018. He leaves behind his beloved wife of almost 48 years, Isaura F. Godinho.
Jose was born and raised in Santa Maria, Azores the only child of the late Jose P. and Maria D. (Andrade) Godinho. Jose attended college in Portugal and afterward proudly served in the Portuguese Navy. Jose married the love of his life Isaura F. Godinho on July 25, 1970, and together they immigrated to Hudson in January 1971, where they still resided together. Jose was a longtime member of Saint Michaels Church in Hudson.
He loved traveling and spending time with his family. He visited his homeland of Santa Maria annually and was able to accomplish his dream of traveling home with all of his children and grandchildren two years prior to his passing. Jose also enjoyed spending time with his family at their home in the cape.
In addition to his loving wife, Jose is also survived by his three children, Nancy G. Nogueira and her husband Manuel of Hudson, Christine G. Monteiro and her husband David of Hudson and Frank J. Godinho of Hudson; his grandchildren, Alisha Nogueira, Amanda Nogueira, Andrew Nogueira, J.J. Monteiro and Jack Monteiro; his uncle, Jose “Tito” Andrade of Portugal; a brother-in-law; 4 sisters-in-law and many cousins, nieces, nephews.
Although an only child, Jose is survived by Domingos Fontes, who he considered his “American Brother” and Manuel Da Maia, who he considered his “Portuguese Brother” back home.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, Ma. A funeral cortege will process to Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St. Hudson, Ma on Thursday, January 25, 2018, for a 9 am celebration Mass of Christian burial and Saint Michael Cemetery for final committal services.
Jose’s family would also like to thank Dr. Nahida Islam and the Marlboro Hospital Oncology nurses for their kind compassionate care.
