Jose F. Leandres

Jose F. Leandres, 79 of Hudson, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at home, surrounded by his family after a period of declining health. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Maria C. (Pereira) Leandres.

In addition to his wife, Jose is also survived by five children, Luisa Fontes and her husband Tony of Hudson, Eduardo Leandres of Milford, Eulalia Leandres of Hudson, Hildeberto Leandres and his wife Elizabeth of Holden and Ana Paula Monteiro and her husband Nelson of Hudson; two sisters, Helena Resendes and her husband Jose and Maria Fernandes and her husband Jose all of Hudson; thirteen grandchildren, Kaylin, Megan, Nicholas, Brandon, Samuel, Travis Jose, Kiah, Tiana, Angelina, Noah, Garrett, Antonio and Annmarie; his son-in-law, David Green and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jose was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Maria Ursula (Sousa) Leandres; his daughter, Paula Leandres; a brother, Manuel Leandres and a grandson Zachary.

Jose was born and raised in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal. After finishing his education, he proudly served his Nation in the Portuguese Army and later his community as a Police Officer in Santa Maria and an EMT in Sao Miguel until he immigrated to Hudson in 1973.

Jose was a man of great character and integrity. He exuded a quiet strength and work ethic that encouraged and supported those around him to set goals and be successful.  He was a true patriarch to his family and an example of love and generosity to those around him, especially with his children and grandchildren whom he adored. Jose wore his heart on his sleeve and was not shy about sharing his emotions with those around him. He was a longtime member of the Hudson Portuguese Club and he loved socializing with his many friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 8:30 am until 10:30 am on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St. Hudson, MA; followed by a procession to Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson Ma, for an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial and Interment in Saint Michael Cemetery in Hudson.
