Jose Rosario Luz

Jose Rosario Luz, 63, of Hudson, MA passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 5, 2023.

Jose leaves his wife of 40 years, Filomena Sousa Luz; his sons, Jerry S. Luz and Jessy J. Luz and his fiancé Megan McDonald. He is also survived by his siblings, Jose Maria Freitas and his wife Maria Freitas, Fatima F. Cabral wife of the late Antonio Cabral, Antonio Luz and his wife Maria Luz, Isidro Luz and his wife Cidalia Luz, Irondina Chaves and her husband Luis Chaves; his in-laws, Maria Espirito Santo and her husband Jose Carmo, Conceicao Resendes and her husband Silvino Resendes, Ermelinda Barros and her partner Jose Antonio, Jose Braga, Aida Rego and her husband Ernesto Rego, Antonio Braga and his wife Noemia Braga along with several loving nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and friends.

Jose was born and raised in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, son of the late Jose Resendes Luz and Filomena Freitas. He and the “love of his life” Filomena were married and emigrated to the United States in September 1980 and settled in Hudson, MA were they raised their family. Jose was a long time employee of S&F Concrete Company in Hudson, MA as a concrete finisher and member of Local 534 Union. He spent 35 years with S&F Concrete until retiring in 2015. He was a member of the Hudson Portuguese Club.

Jose had many interests but he truly had a passion for fishing. He enjoyed heading to Cape Cod and his other home where he would take his boat out on many fishing excursions. He also looked forward to visiting friends and family back in Santa Maria were he also had a home. He was a big fan of the FC Porto Soccer Team and loved watching their matches. He was an inspiration to his family, colleagues and friends and his memories will always be cherished.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 4 to 7pm on Thursday,  February 9, 2023 at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9am on Friday, February 10, 2023 at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, MA; followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery in Hudson for Committal Services.
