Jose B. Moura, 86, of Hudson, died Tuesday, May 1st at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gertrudes (Monteiro) Moura.
Jose was born and raised in Santa Maria, Azores , Portugal, son of the late Bernardino and Maria J. (Bairos) Moura. He emigrated to Hudson in 1974 from Santa Maria along with his wife and family. He was employed by the former Arrow Automotive Co. in Hudson for many years and later was employed by the Digital Equipment Corp. until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Lidia Scovil and her husband Dale of Hudson, Lucia Bairos, wife of the late Dinis Bairos of Hudson, Aida Moura of Hudson, Joe Moura of Hudson, David Moura and his wife Edilene of Fitchburg, Antonio Moura of Hudson and the late Natalia Moura who died in 2004. He is also survived by his two sisters, Maria Moura of Hudson, Ermelinda Chaves of Santa Maria, the Azores; his two brothers, Joao Moura of Canada, Agostinho Moura of Canada; his 13 grandchildren, Nelson, Lisa, Tracy, Kevin, Susan, Brian, Brenda, Jamie, Chelsey, Jonathan, Thomas, Stephen and Sean; his 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jose Maria Moura, Antonio Moura and Manuel Moura.
Jose's family remembers him for his heart of gold, his sense of humor, the special love and care for his late daughter Natalia and his genuine respect for all who knew him. "Today we lost the best man we've ever known. Our father was a man of few words and would do anything for his family. He is now resting in a better place in heaven. Jose is a true angel and deserving of all heavens glory."
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 5th at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 4th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
