Jose N. Bairos of Hudson, 86 years old, died on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Marlborough Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years Maria P. (Cabral) Bairos in June of 2023.
Jose is survived by his son, Joao M. Bairos and his wife Maria H. of Hudson, MA; his two daughters, Maria I. Bairos and Lucia Bairos, both of Hudson, MA and two grandchildren, Nick and Patrick Bairos of Hudson, MA. He is also survived by his brother David Bairos and his wife Ines of Hudson, MA and his sister Maria Chaves, wife of the late Jose Chaves of Ontario, Canada along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Antonio Bairos of Santa Maria, Azores and late wife Ludres of Ontario, Canada and two sisters, Helena Costa, wife of the late Jose Costa of Ontario, Canada and Ines Medeiros, wife of the late Jose Medeiros of Hudson, MA.
Jose was born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores of Portugal, son of the late Jose A. and Emilia da Luz (Nordelo) Bairos. He emigrated to the United States in 1974 settling in Hudson, MA where he has resided since 1974. He was employed as a machine operator for many years by New England Tape Company (NETCO) in Hudson, MA until his retirement. He was a long-time member of Saint Michael Parish in Hudson, MA.
Jose had many interests throughout his life and enjoyed working around his home and being outdoors. He especially loved spending time with his family including his two grandchildren. He will always be remembered as a kind and gentle man, hardworking and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and loyal friend.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 9:00 to 10:30 AM on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, MA; followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery in Hudson for Committal Services.
