Jose F. Resendes

Jose F. Resendes of Hyannis MA, former longtime resident of Hudson MA, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday January 16, 2025. He leaves his wife of 48 years Maria Natalia (Monteiro) Resendes of Hyannis, MA.

Jose was born and raised in Santa Maria, Azores, of Portugal, son of the late Antonio and Filomena (Freitas) Resendes. He emigrated to the United States and settled in Hudson, MA in 1976. He was employed by Mass Container Co. of Marlborough for 40+ years until his retirement in 2017. He was a member of Saint Michael Parish of Hudson, and the Hudson Portuguese Club.

Besides his wife, Jose is survived by his two daughters; Amy Sarmiento and her husband Alex, of West Boylston, MA, Christine Perna and her husband Andrew of West Boylston, MA; his four grandchildren, Vincent Sarmiento, Dante Sarmiento, Austin Perna, Bryce Perna and his sister Maria Fatima Silveira and her husband Luis of Taunton, MA. He also leaves his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 Jose had many hobbies and interests during his life. He enjoyed a day of golfing with his family members and having his wife Maria Natalia as his caddy made it even more special. He enjoyed cooking, grilling and entertaining his family and friends. Jose and Maria purchased a home in Hyannis in 2012 and have resided there since 2017 following their retirement. They both enjoyed the Cape and Jose always looked forward to fishing at the canal on Cape Cod. He was a football fanatic, and an avid Patriots fan. His unique personality as a jokester and his love of beer and peanuts along with the memory of a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather and loyal friend to all will be cherished forever.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street Hudson, MA 01749; Procession will follow to Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning Street, Hudson MA for a mass of Christian Burial. Burial service will be held later at the convenience of the family.
