Joseph H. Ferrara, 95, passed away on Saturday, March 3rd at Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center. He was born in Boston and lived most of his life in the Marlboro/Hudson area. He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Hayes) Ferrara to whom he was married for nearly 40 years. He is also survived by his son, George Ferrara of Hudson; a daughter, Lisa A. Campbell and her husband Michael of Pembroke; 4 half brothers, Paul Homer and his wife Ada of North Attleboro, Raymond Homer and his wife Carol of Carver, William Homer of Plainville, David Homer of Raynham; 9 grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Jacqueline Campbell of Pembroke, Tonia Bouvier and her husband Jay of Hudson, Tara Williamson and her husband Stephen of Middleboro, Tatum Ferrara of Hudson, Tressa Ferrara of Rutland, Bradley Bastow of Michigan and Bonnie Bastow of North Carolina; 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was pre deceased by his daughter, Barbara Ann Bastow who died in 1992; 6 half brothers and 3 half sisters. His first wife Helen died 1982.
He was a self employed milkman for many years serving the Marlboro/Hudson/Stow and Sudbury area. Prior to being self employed, he started his career with Fillmore's Dairy. He was praised for saving the lives of 3 children in a Sudbury fire. He was a life member of the Hudson Elks and member of the Hudson Eagle's. He was a former member in the 10th CO, 3rd Bn, 21st Infantry of the Mass. State Guard, serving as company cook.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend services at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (www.tighehamilton.com) on Wednesday, March 7th at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Marlboro. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 6th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Hudson Elks will conduct its ritual on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
