Joseph Kevin Fitzgerald, 80, of Hudson, MA, passed away in his home on September 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of fifty-two years to Rosemary E. (Regan) Fitzgerald, also of Hudson, MA.

Kevin was born in Newark, NJ, on March 29, 1944, to his late parents James Fitzgerald and Elizabeth (McGuigan) Fitzgerald. He was raised in Nutley, NJ, where he attended local schools, and graduated from Essex Catholic High School in 1962. Upon graduating, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Seton Hall University in 1966. He was very active in college and was part of the Accounting Club, Booster Club, and Student Senate. He was also president of the Marketing Club, a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, the business fraternity, and Pi Sigma Epsilon, honorary marketing fraternity. Kevin loved his time at Seton Hall and was a lifelong fan of the basketball team. If there was a game on, you always knew he was watching and cheering for his Pirates.

He loved his family deeply and enjoyed all the times spent together with them. He could always be found watching his kids at all their various school and sports events. In later years, Kevin and Rosemary loved going to watch their granddaughters at all their events too. He had a great sense of humor, a quick wit, and a smile that lit up his face every time he laughed, which was a lot! He will always be remembered as a loving, supportive, and generous husband, father, and grandpa.

Kevin joined the 3M Company in 1967 and was named Sales Rep of the Year the following year. He spent most of his time at 3M as an Account Executive in the Magnetic Audio/Video Products Division, working in Manhattan. He had a very successful career until he retired in 2005.

In 1996, Kevin and his family relocated to Marlborough, MA, before settling in Hudson, MA, in 2005, where he lived until his passing. He was a faithful parishioner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marlborough, MA. Kevin was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Cedar Knolls, NJ, and is a veteran of the United States Army National Guard, having served during the Vietnam War Era.

Kevin kept very active in his retirement. He looked forward to driving over to St. Mark’s Golf Couse in his Mustang to play golf with his friends twice a week. He was an avid sports fan, with special appreciation for the New York Yankees and the New York Football Giants. He also enjoyed watching Boston College hockey games, and of course Seton Hall Pirates basketball. Kevin and Rosemary loved traveling. Some of their favorite vacations were trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Ireland, river cruises in Europe, visiting the US National Parks, and revisiting their honeymoon destination in Bermuda. They also looked forward to spending a week with their granddaughters at the Jersey Shore every summer.

Kevin is survived by his loving wife Rosemary Fitzgerald of Hudson, MA; his son Kevin Fitzgerald of NJ; his daughter Tara Maki and her husband Richard of Hudson, MA; his sister Maureen Gould of NC; his grandchildren Allison Maki and Caitlin Maki; his brother-in-law Jack Lauber of PA; sister-in-law Margaret Regan of NY; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He is predeceased by his parents James and Elizabeth Fitzgerald, and his sister Kathleen Lauber of PA.
