Josephine "Jo" (Repanti) Rio of Hudson passed away on December 20, 2010 at UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester. She was 86.
Jo attended Hopkinton public schools and was employed as a secretary at the Telechron Clock Company in Ashland during WWII. In 1947, Jo married Charles Rio, and they shared 61 wonderful years together in the home that he built for her on Washington Street in Hudson.
Jo is pre-deceased by her husband Charles, who passed away in 2008. She is survived by her two daughters - Paulette and her husband Lance Thomas of Hyannis, and Debra and her husband Kevin Murphy of Marlborough. She is also survived by her step sisters Alma Acton of Hopkinton and Helen Haven of Sudbury, and many nieces and nephews.
Those in the area may remember Jo's 20+ years as a sales clerk at Jordan Marsh at Shoppers World in Framingham. She and Charlie were members of the Marlborough Country Club for 38 years and also was a member of Saint Michael's Church in Hudson. Jo was the ultimate home maker - adeptly skilled in cooking and all things necessary to make a home comfortable and welcoming to others. She was a skilled and passionate gardener whose flowers were stunning and whose vegetable garden was so bountiful, she often had to give away bags of vegetables to friends and family. Her smile and gracious warmth will be missed by all her knew her. She had a kind and gentle heart for all animals, and her cat Stretch will miss her.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 27th at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson, and a reception following internment at the Marlborough Country Club, Concord Road, Marlborough. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Dec. 26th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
