Karen A. Burgess

Karen A. (Mooney) Burgess, 78,   Born and raised in Marlborough, MA, who resided in Hudson, MA for the past 20 plus years, died on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Reservoir Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Marlborough, MA. 

Karen was born and raised in Marlborough, MA, daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Colena) Mooney. She attended local schools and was a 1963 graduate of Marlborough High School. Karen spent many years working at the former Braemoor Nursing Home, currently known as Marlborough Hills as a Certified Nursing Assistant until retiring in the mid 90’s. She also worked as a bartender for the former Bronx Lounge in Marlborough. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Marlborough.

Karen is survived by her daughter Michelle Coppola-Hooper and her husband Michael Hooper of Hudson, MA and her twin grandsons she cherished, Michael and Matthew Coppola of Hudson, MA. She also leaves her former husband Richard Giroux of Hudson, MA along with other relatives and close friends.

Karen was a devoted mother, doting grandmother and loyal friend to many. Her passion in life was her family especially later with her two grandsons. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards with friends, solving crossword puzzles and of course gabbing with friends. She always looked forward to vacations, cruise ships her favorite. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

Calling hours for Karen will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 5pm-7pm, at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA. A Memorial Funeral Mass  will be celebrated on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 10:00am in Immaculate Conception Parish, 11 Prospect Street, Marlborough, MA. Urn burial will be held privately in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Marlborough, MA. at the convenience of the family.
