Kathleen A. (Maguire) Liljegren

Kathleen A (Maguire) Liljegren, 77, passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on February 14th, 2018.  She was born in Brooklyn to the late Arthur Lee Maguire and Doris Carolyn (McCarthy) Maguire on November 9th, 1940.  Kathleen was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester High School in 1958.   She worked for the Boston Herald before marrying Walter J. Liljegren in 1961.

After their marriage, the couple moved to West Roxbury and later Newton to begin their family.  The family settled in Hudson in 1965 where Kathleen was a homemaker and loving mother.  When her children reached middle school age, Kathleen resumed her career in banking and later as an insurance broker before retiring in 1985 to help raise her grandchildren.

Kathleen was an avid reader who believed in family first.  She was a loving and generous person who was always willing to help a friend or neighbor in need. She had a special affection for her great grandchildren.

Kathleen was predeceased by her brother Arthur who passed away in 1997.  She is survived by her loving husband Walter of 56 years and their children; James Liljegren and his wife Theresa of Lunenburg and Sheri Lazaros and her husband Charles J of Hudson; her brothers Thomas F Maguire of Melbourne Beach, FL and his wife Mary Patricia, and John B Maguire of Hampstead, NH; her grandchildren Charles A Lazaros and his wife Debra, Gabrielle Lazaros and her fiancé Derek Soule, and Taylor Liljegren; her great grandchildren Landon and Amelia Lazaros; and her standard poodle Desirée.

Services will be at Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home in Hudson.  Calling hours are Thursday February 22nd, 8:30-10:30 AM followed by a Mass at 11 AM at St. Michael’s Church in Hudson.  Interment will follow at St. Michael’s cemetery.
