Kenneth A. Mechan, 85, of Orleans, MA, formerly of Charlestown, MA, died Sunday, November 11, 2007, at Whitney Place Assisted Living in Northborough, MA.
He was the husband of the late Margaret (Holmes) Mechan.
Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Elmer and Margaret (Kane) Mechan. He was a graduate of the former Mechanic Art H.S. in the Back Bay, Boston, MA.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Mr. Mechan owned and operated a beauty salon at Temple Place in Boston, MA for many years until his retirement.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his membership at The Captains Golf Course in Brewster, MA and Oak Wood Country Club in Lake Wales, FL.
He is survived by his brother in law Thomas Holmes and his wife Carol of Hudson, MA; his 2 brothers Elmer Mechan and his wife Donna of S. Weymouth, MA and Robert Mechan and his wife Mary of Charlestown, MA. He is also survived by his godchild Ruth (Holmes) Kennedy of San Diego, CA; his godchild Andrew Flynn of Burlington, NJ; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Janet Palma of Plympton, MA.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church, 61 Canal Road, Orleans MA. The committal service with military honors will take place in the Orleans Cemetery, Orleans, MA.
