Kevin A. Doherty, fondly known as "Big Kev," or “Papa Kev” embarked on his final journey on February 10, 2025, at the age of 75, in the comfort of his home in Northborough, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on February 25, 1949, in Boston, Kevin radiated warmth and joy throughout his life, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him.

A dedicated maintenance engineer for 38 years at the Shipley Company, Kevin's work ethic was a reflection of his generous spirit and unwavering commitment to his craft. His keen ability to fix things transcended the professional realm; it was a passion that painted his personal life with purpose. Known for donning his colorful rainbow suspenders, he brought laughter to every room he entered with his great sense of humor and welcoming demeanor. Whether he was coaching kids in sports or sharing spirited conversations over a glass of Bushmills, his presence lit up every gathering.

Kevin was not only an accomplished professional but a proud family man whose heart swelled with love for his wife Diane, his children Kelly and Kevin, his seven cherished grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Providing for his family was one of his proudest accomplishments, a testament to his dedication and the values he instilled in his loved ones. As he created lasting memories during August family visits to Hermit Island, he exemplified the power of togetherness and the easy going joy of nature.

A lover of music and a spirited debater about politics, Kevin was animated in his discussions and always willing to share his perspective. His patience, helpfulness, and generosity made him not just a great father and husband but a role model to many. He truly believed in the importance of connections, putting others before himself, and ensuring that those around him felt supported.

Kevin leaves behind his devoted wife, Diane, whose partnership became a testament to love and support through all life’s seasons. He is survived by his children Kelly and Kevin, who carry forth his legacy with pride and the values he instilled in them. He also leaves behind his brothers Francis and Dennis Doherty, daughter in-law Patricia Doherty, and seven grand children: Tylor, Josephine, Keegan, Kevin, Penelope, Miller, Maeve, and many other cherished family members and friends.

He now rejoins his beloved infant daughter, Kristin Doherty, along with his devoted parents, Bridget and Francis Doherty, and nephew Stephen Foley, in eternal rest.

As we remember "Big Kev," we celebrate a life of love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to family. His legacy of love and kindness will resonate in the hearts of all who were fortunate to call him husband, father, brother, or friend. His laughter echoes in our memories, reminding us always to embrace life with joy and warmth.
