Dr. Lawrence Foley, originally from Watertown,Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12th surrounded by his loving family. He leaves the love of his life, Valerie Smiaroski Foley of 57 years.
Larry was born on October 3rd, 1935 in Brighton, the son of Alton and Ida Coletti Foley.
Larry grew up in Watertown, playing sports in the neighborhoods with his friends. He graduated from Boston University majoring in History and earned his Masters and Ph.D in clinical psychology from Rutgers University. He thrived helping people driven by his curiosity and intellect.
Larry was a man with a big heart who enjoyed getting to know people and help them with their lives and careers. He was gregarious, outgoing and passionate about his family and friends. Larry was a fitness enthusiast, a Patriots fanatic and a champion bridge player.
Larry and Valerie had two children, Mark Foley and Jill Vroman and five grandchildren, Valerie, Benjamin, Isabel, Nathan and David. Larry and Valerie traveled the world, enjoying history of the countries they visited. He also acquired a passion for great food and wine.
A celebration of his life will be held on January, 18th 2020 at 11 A.M at the First Parish Church, 24 Vernon St, Framingham, MA 01701 .
Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oxfam International.
