Leonard Quirion

April 13, 1955 — November 3, 2024

Lunenburg, MA

Leonard Quirion, age 69, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Lunenburg, Massachusetts Saturday, November 3rd.

Leonard was born on April 13, 1955 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Leonard moved to the United States when he was ten years old, and resided primarily in Marlboro, Massachusetts. He met his future wife, Christine, when he was in his teens. They married on November 4th, 1977, and had their son Lonnie on April 24, 1978. Their daughter Danielle was born on April 11, 1983, followed by their daughter Kristy on February 6, 1987. Leonard was a devoted dad and husband who loved his family unconditionally. He and Christine created a foundation of love and a childhood of joy for their 3 children.

Leonard, known as Lon to those who knew him well, was a man of few words but of great love to those he held dear. Lon worked professionally as a machinist electrician for 30 years. When he wasn’t working, he was busy fixing cars, fixing up his family’s home, and building wooden works of art for his loved ones using his carpentry skills. Bookcases, coffee tables, grandfather clocks, racecar beds, toy boxes, and rocking chairs were just a few of the treasures he made for those he loved with his woodworking talent. Lon was also the go-to “Fix It” guy and handyman for all his family and friends. If there was something that needed to be fixed, he would find the solution.

An avid gardener, Lon could take any plot of land and turn it into a beautiful garden. His yard was a haven for birds, squirrels, and all of the local wildlife. Lon’s quiet demeanor fostered a special relationship with animals, and his pets throughout the years held a special place in his life. Lon was most at peace in his backyard being surrounded by his flowers, listening to the many birds visiting the yard, with his dog Ginger at his feet, and watching his grandkids play.

Although Lon was a loving man of many talents, he shone brightest and was happiest when he became a grandfather. His first grandchild, Lonnie Jr. (LJ), came on May 22, 2004. As soon as he could talk, LJ decided that Lon would be called “B” by his grandkids, and the name stuck. In addition to LJ, Lon also became a grandad to Lily (18), Brady (17), Brooke (16), Emma (14), Jamie (14), Liam (10), Eva Mae (8), and Isla (5). Lon shared a special bond with all of his 9 grandchildren, they were his pride and joy, and they will carry their memories of B with them forever. From creating fun fairy gardens and dollhouses to being the biggest fan of his grandkids baseball, football, basketball, and soccer games, his grandchildren all understood how dearly loved they were by their “B”.

Lon is survived by his wife of 47 years Christine of Lunenburg, his son Lonnie and his wife Jen of Harvard, his daughter Danielle and her husband Josh of Winchendon, and his daughter Kristy and her husband Will of Lunenburg. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and his sister-in-law Kathy of Merrimack, NH.

Lon’s family will be holding a private service November 24th, 2024. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Audubon Society in memory of Leonard Quirion. Donations can be made online at (Donate Here)
