Linda (Lugin) Gogolin

d. April 13, 2010

Bolton, MA
Linda Gogolin, age 62, from Bolton, died at home on April 13, 2010. She and her husband of 25 years, Larry, lived in Bolton since 1998 after moving from Sudbury when her children, Shane Moore of Clinton, Nicole Palmer of Harvard, and Michelle Poor of Sudbury and step-children, Brian Gogolin of Hopkinton, Pam Gogolin of Needham, and Karen DeJong of W. Orange, NJ, all finished schools and started families of their own.

She was the daughter of Olive Thomas and Albert Lugin and sister of Paul Lugin from Fairbanks, AK, Jack Lugin from Salisbury, MA and Ned Lugin from Montmouth, NJ. She worked for Social Security for 25 years and retired in 1998.

Linda grew up in and graduated from Hudson High School in 1965 and attended Northeastern University, Deaf Studies, in Boston and was a certified sign language interpreter. She loved her job dealing with the disabled and elderly. Her last assignment was in the O'Neil building in Boston for 15 years.

Linda played Women's softball in Marlboro for over 20 years where she helped manage the teams and create a competitive league. Her greatest happiness came from being with all her grandchildren. She was fortunate to have a close relationship with all 13 of them.

Linda succumbed to Multiple Myeloma, cancer of the bone marrow, after several years and many therapies including stem cell transplants. She gave the credit for extending her life to Dana Farber and Charles River Cancer Center in Framingham. She believed a cure is in the future and donations would be greatly appreciated to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) 383 Main Ave., 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.
