Lloyd V. Robar, 88, of Hudson, MA, died Saturday, July 28, 2007 at U-Mass Memorial Hospital, University Campus in Worcester, MA.
He was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, son of the late John and Beatrice (Thompson) Robar.
He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. During his time of service, he participated in the Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe campaigns. He was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and the American and European Theater Campaign Ribbons. He was employed as a machine operator for the former ITT Surprenant Co. in Clinton until his retirement. He was an avid golfer and member of the Twin Springs Golf Course in Bolton and was a member of the V.F.W. in Hudson, MA.
He is survived by his two nephews, Kenneth Simes of Rutland, MA and Brian Simes of West Boylston, MA. He was the brother of Murray Robar who died in 1968 and Audrey Simes who died in 2007.
His funeral will be held from the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. (www.tighehamilton.com.) 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749 with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2007 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson, MA. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
