Madelyn H. (Hunter) Collins, 94, of Hudson, died on Friday, October 31st at the Genesis Milford Health Center. She was the beloved wife of 54 years to the late William H. Collins Jr. who died in 2001.
Madelyn was born and raised in Troy, NY, daughter of the late Frederick J. and Loretta (Fagan) Hunter. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Troy, NY. She later attended Oswego State College in New York. During WWII, Madelyn was affiliated with the FBI as an expert fingerprint analyst. Prior to moving to Hudson, she was a kindergarten teacher at Saint Patrick's School in Watertown, NY. She was a member of the former Christ the King Parish in Hudson; member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson; member of the Ladies Sodality with both Christ King and St. Michael's; member of the Legion of Mary and Rosary Society of Sackets Harbor, NY.
She is survived by her children, Mary Weber of Edmond, OK, Christine Proven of Ogdensburg, NY, Carol Shattuck of Attleboro, MA, Loretta Collins-Noferi of Milford, MA and William H. Collins III of Scotia, NY. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Coffee of Rosswell, GA; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Frederick Hunter, Dorothy Smith, Loretta Walsh and Margaret Miele.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 4th at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Marlboro. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of: Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
