Manuel P. Lopes

Manuel P. Lopes, 82, long time resident of Hudson, MA, died on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Marlborough Hospital with his beloved wife of 47 years, Maria I. (da Silva) Lopes by his side.

Besides his wife Maria, Manuel leaves his son, Daniel Lopes of Northborough, MA; his two daughters, Isabel Lopes of Hudson, MA and Helena Lopes of Sterling, MA. He is also survived by his brother, Victor Lopes of Belgium; his sister Idalina Tinta of Marlborough, MA along with other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Maria Lourenco.

Born and raised in Corticada, Portugal, Manuel was the son of the late Antonio and Maria P. Lopes. He attended local schools in Portugal and enjoyed working hard during his younger years in Portugal. In 1966 he emigrated to the United States and settled in Hudson, MA. He was employed for many years as a machine operator by Independent Cable Company in Hudson until his retirement. He was a devoted catholic and longtime member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson.

Manuel enjoyed the simple things in life, gathering with friends and family was always special. In his spare time he would go for long walks or ride his bicycle. He loved being outdoors working in his yard and garden for many hours. He was a talented automotive mechanic and would maintain and repair his own vehicles or help friends when needed. Both Manuel and his wife Maria looked forward to the many trips back to Portugal visiting family and friends. He will always be remembered for his kind and giving spirit, his infectious smile and the warmth of his heart he shared with all who loved and knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 5-7pm on Friday, October 7, 2022 at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9am on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, MA; followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery in Hudson for Committal Services.
